Inter-State Investigative Services, a Tucson, Arizona based private investigation agency, was founded in 1994 by Randy Downer, Jr. Early in his career, following his graduation from the University of Arizona, Randy learned the craft of investigation while working for some of the most prominent local investigators. After this time spent honing his skills, Randy worked for the Pima County Public Defender as a criminal investigation specialist assigned to the homicide and sex crime team before striking out on his own and founding Inter-State State Investigative Services. Throughout his career, Randy has maintained a commitment to advocating for the under-served and under-represented in our American legal system.

In keeping with this spirit, Inter-State has performed significant investigative work for the Arizona Justice Project, a group that advocates for wrongfully convicted prisoners. Through our work with this organization, which Randy helped establish, we can proudly say that we have played a part in obtaining freedom for multiple wrongfully convicted individuals.

Inter-State is staffed with a diverse mix of investigators with varying backgrounds and skill sets, including law enforcement, military, law and accounting. We are comprised of both male and female investigators, some of whom are fluent in Spanish. We strive to stay ahead of the technological curve, and all of our investigators receive continuous training.

This past year, Inter-State Investigative Services proudly celebrated our 20th year of providing quality investigative services to our clientele in Tucson, Arizona and the surrounding area. Even though we’ve been around for a few decades, we still find the work engaging and complex and will continue to provide our clients with exceptional investigations for decades to come.
