Patti Miller

Women Investigation Careers and Technology Changes

Patti Miller is a Certified Legal Investigator™ and paralegal. She has more than 30 years of legal experience as a private investigator and paralegal. Out of 70 Certified Legal Investigators™ in the world, Patti is one of only 15 female Certified Legal Investigators™.


Patti started her career as a civilian with the Phoenix Police Department working in the areas of patrol and organized crime assisting in administration and criminal investigations. She went on to obtain her Paralegal Certification and immediately began working as a litigation paralegal for a large Phoenix law firm primarily in the areas of computer litigation support, including the development and management of a custom database computer program, insurance defense, personal injury, and investigation assistance.


Patti went on to work for a local law firm wherein she provided paralegal and investigation assistance in the areas of personal injury, product liability, worker’s compensation, and general litigation. She was also the office manager handling all areas of law office management, including client billing, firm administration, personnel hiring, and accounting. In 1991, Patti obtained her business license/private investigator’s license through the Arizona Department of Public Safety. She owned and operated Arizona Fact Finder Legal Services providing investigation assistance and paralegal services to local and national law firms and insurance carriers from 1991 through 1997.


Patti’s legal experience has been in the areas of plaintiff personal injury, insurance defense, product liability, commercial litigation, workers’ compensation, employment law, injunctions against harassment, criminal law, civil rights law, computer litigation, intellectual property, and various areas of general litigation. Investigations performed by Patti include skip tracing/locates, asset investigations, background investigations, criminal investigations, fraud investigations, witness interviewing, recorded statements, liability determination, accident investigation (including vehicular, train, aircraft, and product), accident diagram preparation, still photography and videos, surveillance, liability analysis, and evaluation. During her career, Patti has worked for a variety of major law firms, insurance carriers and governmental agencies. Since joining Lewis Roca in April 1997, Patti has been providing private investigation services for attorneys and their clients in all Lewis Roca offices and for all practices.
