The Carl H. Clatterbuck Agency
One of my favorite subjects, myself. I was licensed in 1984 and have been running a full service detective agency in Kalamazoo for three decades. Currently, my business model is more like a boutique; I give close personal attention to a smaller population. I had different configurations for my business, but this boutique concept makes the most sense now. My specialty is high profile, complex investigations for the defense, but I do missing persons, custody and almost anything that captures my interest. I have been profiled in local, national and international publications. My career path did not always focus on investigations. My BA from the University of Michigan was in English. I have a Master’s Degree in English, as well. While working for a magazine doing investigative pieces and reading a lot of detective novels, it occurred to me this is something I wanted to do. Also, while attending graduate school I worked as a reference librarian and loved it. I was amazed by all the information available in the reference section in the library where I worked. I became well acquainted with all the various reference guides and thought I had the world at my fingertips. When the dawn of the Internet broke, I newly discovered the vast body of information that still shocks and amazes me every day. I have taught college, but I prefer investigations over academia. I believe in embracing the highest standards for this profession and I am thankful for NALI and its membership for their continued commitment to this cause. I am married and have two children; one out of college and one soon to be. When I’m not working, which is rare, and when the weather is nice, I like to get in a fast recreational bike ride.
