Robert Smith is a professionally licensed Private Investigator and Managing Partner at TechSmart Solutions LLC, a business which provides technical services such as digital forensics, consulting, counter surveillance sweep services, and investigations.

Honorably retired in June 2018 from the Massachusetts State Police Cyber Crimes Unit, Division of Homeland Security and Preparedness, a unit which is responsible for performing criminal investigations where computers or technology are the instruments used to affect the crime. Moreover, the duties included investigating various crimes involving threats, intrusions, conspiracies, unauthorized access, fraud, terrorism, and larceny cases as well as assisting various other Units and agencies with homicides, sexual assaults, and drug trafficking cases. I was also a member of the Massachusetts Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force performing criminal investigations involving the sexual exploitation of children on the Internet. Previously assigned to the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office as a State Police Detective investigating major crimes, homicides, and computer crimes. Prior to my employment with the Massachusetts State Police I was employed as a State Corrections Officer at Southeastern Correctional Center in Bridgewater, Massachusetts from November 1987 until attending the State Police Academy.
