Brennan Wingerter
Title: Post-Conviction Investigations in Hindsight–An Appellate Perspective to Enhance Best Practices at the Trial Level
Brennan Maureen Wingerter is the Director of the Appellate Division for the Tennessee District Public Defenders Conference. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Tennessee Winston College of Law with a Concentration in Advocacy and Dispute Resolution. During law school, she worked for the Federal Defender Services of Eastern Tennessee, the Orleans Public Defenders, and Professor Emerita Penny White. Before joining the Public Defenders’ Appellate Division, Brennan clerked for Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Gary Wade and worked as a law professor teaching courses in legal writing, appellate advocacy, experiential learning, bar exam preparation, and academic success. She also developed and founded a regional law firm handling criminal and civil appeals in Eastern Tennessee.
